Whilst it is a major improvement on their previous logo (I thought everyone in the creative industry had got over the gradient fixation in the early 2000’s), I think DC’s constant reinvention says a lot about the brand as whole. They seem lost for direction, trying to emulate Marvel’s more recent success in the film industry whilst trying to not appear that they are blatantly following their every move.
Consistency creates familiarity and familiarity builds trust. Trust is imperative in building any relationship, both socially and in business. This is evident in the logo timeline and the success of the Marvel franchises.
